1. Introduction

Bright Gift Ideas Ltd, trading as Hamper.ie, is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our website and places an order with us. This notice explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

We handle your information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018. This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Cookie Policy, which explains how we use cookies and similar technologies when you browse the site.

2. Who we are

The data controller responsible for your personal information is:

Bright Gift Ideas Ltd
Block O2 Ballymount Drive
Dublin 12
D12 DT6K
Ireland

Registered company number in Ireland: 320530

3. Your rights

Under data protection law, you have a number of rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you. You have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected (rectification);
  • have your data erased where there is no continuing reason to keep it (erasure);
  • receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format (portability);
  • object to your data being used for marketing;
  • restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority, at www.dataprotection.ie.

4. What personal data we collect

Depending on how you use our website, we may collect the following information:

  • your name and account details;
  • your billing and contact information, including email and phone number;
  • the delivery recipient’s name, address, and contact details when you send a hamper as a gift;
  • any hamper personalisation or greeting message you choose to include with an order;
  • your payment details — please note that we do not store your card details. They are passed securely to our payment processor, Stripe, who handles the transaction on our behalf.

5. Why we use your data and our lawful basis

We only use your personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so:

  • To fulfil your order — processing payment, preparing your hamper, and arranging delivery. Our lawful basis is the performance of our contract with you.
  • To send you marketing — news, offers, and seasonal reminders, but only where you have given your consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
  • To improve our service — understanding how customers use the site so we can make it better. Our lawful basis here is our legitimate interest in running and improving our business.

Your data is hosted on servers within the European Union. Where any transfer of your data outside the European Economic Area is necessary, we ensure it is safeguarded by appropriate measures such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. If you hold an account with us, we retain your account data until you choose to close the account.

7. Who we share your data with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with those who help us deliver our service to you, and only as far as is necessary:

  • our delivery courier, DPD, so that your hamper can be delivered;
  • the gift recipient, where you are sending a hamper to someone else and recipient details are needed for delivery;
  • our payment processor, Stripe, to take payment securely;
  • our customer-support, IT, hosting, and analytics providers, who act for us under contract and may only use your data on our instructions;
  • any third party where we are required to share data to comply with a legal obligation;
  • a successor business in the event that we sell or transfer part or all of our business.

8. How we contact you

We will always send you the transactional messages needed to manage your order, such as order confirmations and dispatch notifications. We will only send you marketing communications where you have given your consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

9. Making a request

You will not have to pay a fee to exercise any of your data protection rights. We aim to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests, in which case we will keep you informed.

10. Contacting us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or you wish to exercise any of your rights, please contact us at support@hamper.ie.

11. Disclosure of the sender

When you send a hamper as a gift, the recipient will not normally be told who the sender is unless you include your name in the greeting message. However, we may disclose the sender’s identity to the recipient where it is reasonably necessary — for example, to resolve a delivery problem or in response to a legitimate request.

12. Security of your data

We take the security of your personal information seriously and use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. All information you provide is transmitted over an encrypted connection, and payment details are handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified provider. While no method of transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, we work to safeguard your data at all times.

13. Children’s data

Our website and services are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to this notice

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised update date, and we encourage you to review it periodically.
